OSHUN
OSHUN
#OSHUNNYC

Oshun is the Yoruba deity of fresh waters that governs over love, diplomacy, wealth, intimacy, and beauty. She's one of a three sister trilogy including Oya, deity of the graveyard, and Yemaya, deity of the salt waters who is known to have protected the Africans brought to the shores of the diaspora as slaves. She is the ocean, the essence of motherhood, and a fierce protector of children.
Oshun is the "unseen mother present at every gathering", because she is the Yoruba understanding of the cosmological forces of water, moisture, and attraction. Therefore, she is believed to be omnipresent and omnipotent. Her power is represented in a Yoruba proverb, which reminds us that "no one is enemy to water" and therefore everyone has need of and should respect and admire Oshun, as well as her followers.

Manhattan-based vocalists Niambi Sala and Thandiwe sing and perform for the purpose of spreading her essence and the essences of her sisters, specifically Yemaya, through music. Together they are OSHUN, a duo characterized by yellow and blue (the colors of Oshun and Yemaya, respectively), soul, hip-hop, community service, and love.

As the proverb says, "no one is enemy to water", and their goal is to share Oshun's peaceful omnipresence for the bigger purpose of empowering women, and all people, instilling confidence, cultural pride, and self-respect.

This bigger purpose is within a re-emerging movement of cultural realignment, awareness, and creativity. #NUBIANMAFIA
Boogieman Dela
Boogieman Dela
Boogieman Dela is as complex an artists as the name suggests. This Philly native grew up in a large musically inclined family with three sisters and a brother all with an aptitude for singing and various instruments. In Boog's elementary years he studied the drums and the trumpet which began building the foundation of his musical genius.

Growing up in the church Boog found a way to blend his upbringing with the sounds of the streets he looked to in his early teens. He gained acclaim as a vicious battle rapper yet returned his focus back to writing and making music as he developed as an artist. In the winter of 2015, Boog release his first album, "Dirty Harmony", which was well received by the masses and raised the standard of what to expect from Mandela in his future work.
The authentic sound that Boogie conveys captured the attention of local entertainment group, Sensi Starr Records, in 2016. His affiliation with the group caught the eyes of a whole new community and has released his first project 10/27/17 titled "Broken Watch" with the Philadelphia based record label.

Boogieman Dela has shared the stage with many artists touring Philadelphia including The Gza, Dj Premier, Mobb Deep, Bone Thugs N Harmony, The Pharcyde and more.

CAGEBIRD
CAGEBIRD
Only a city like Philadelphia could give an artist like CAGEBIRD wings. CAGEBIRD is music, with a sound of comfort and kinship. Growing up with different musical influences, CAGEBIRD expresses freely bending genres sultry to hiphop, crafting a sonic world of “Trap Soul”. Growing up in the city, CAGEBIRD discovered music as a means to escape and also to express the way they experience the world. Existing in a culture that puts us in cages of conformity, CAGEBIRD’s message is that we have to break free, being our authentic selves and expressing our truths, unapologetically. This is CAGEBIRD.
